The Tallest Dog in the WorldThey say that everything is bigger in Texas. Great Danes are really big dogs. And the biggest of them all is Zeus, who lives in Bedford, Texas. Two-year-old Zeus stands 3 feet, 5.18 inches tall, enough for a Guinness World Record for a living dog. A dog's height is measured from the ground to its withers, or the tallest part of a dog's shoulder blade. Zeus' owner, Brittany Davis, wanted a Great Dane since she was a little girl. Now she shares her home with her husband, two children, three miniature Australian shepherds, a cat, and Zeus. Zeus gets along great with the other dogs and has agreed to leave the cat alone. The big dog sleeps with Davis' teenage son, who has a queen-size bed. Of course, you're wondering how they feed such a large dog. Zeus eats 12 cups of dog food everyday, and is tall enough to steal food off the counter when he desires. Guinness tells us the tallest dog ever recorded was also named Zeus, a Michigan dog who was 44 inches tall. That Zeus passed away in 2014. You can read more about Zeus at Guinness World Records. Skippy is the Oldest Dog in Ireland at 130 Human Years OldThey say dogs are man’s best friends. Well, this Irish dog has been best friends with his owner for over twenty years. Skippy was born in 1995, which makes him over 130-years-old in dog years. That makes him perhaps one of the oldest dogs in Ireland AND the world. His owner Pat Geraghty, 84, has raised Skippy since he was a few weeks old. The pup was born in a dog kennel in Belmullet sometime in 1995. Since then, they’ve spent the years together in Pat’s County Mayo farm. Asked about the secret to Skippy’s longevity, Pat simply concluded that it must’ve been the natural food he’d fed him and the open air of the Erris Peninsula that they lived in.Image: Pearce Prior#dog #Ireland #SkippyTheDog #longevity #oldest #worldrecord
Jonathan the 190-Year-Old TortoiseIn 1882, a tortoise was taken from the Seychelles and gifted to the governor of the island of St. Helena. He was fully mature at the time, which takes 50 years for his species, the Seychelles giant tortoise or Aldabrachelys gigantea hololissa. The tortoise named Jonathan was given a conservative birth date of 1832. In 1886, the photograph above was taken, showing Jonathan on the left. Jonathan is still living on the island of St. Helena, and still getting his picture taken, at the age of 190!
Finley the Golden Retriever Holds the Guinness World Record for Most Tennis Balls Held in the Mouth by a DogFinley, with his human owner Erin Molloy, obtained the record for the most tennis balls held in the mouth by a dog, with six balls at the same time. This golden retriever joined the Molloy family as a puppy in 2014, and he really loves to do many activities such as swimming, playing fetch, rolling around in the snow during winter, and chasing animals wandering in their garden. Finley started holding four tennis balls when he was around two years-old, and he was first seen to carry six in 2017.“My dad would throw him a tennis ball, he’d catch it, drop it, then wait for my dad to throw another. Rather than bringing just one ball back to my dad, he brought back all six! He’s been a ball hoarder for quite some time now!” said Erin. She applied the record in the Guinness World Records website, beating the previous record of five tennis balls by another Golden Retriever named Augie in 2003. After setting the record, Finley gained many followers on his Instagram page.“I hope people look at Finley and see pure joy and really understand that he’s the happiest dog. He not only brings joy to his family, but people all over the world.“Image: Dominic Punt#GoldenRetriever #dog #WorldRecord #GuinnessWorldRecords #TennisBalls
Lou the Coonhound Breaks the Record for World's Longest Ears on a DogBlack and tan coonhounds are excellent scent hounds. Thanks to their rather long ears that drag on the ground, the scent in the air is stirred up, which enables coonhounds to pick up on scents other dogs would not be able to.But perhaps, when it comes to hunting by scent, none would be able to beat 3-year-old Lou. After all, Lou has the longest ears out of all dogs, with each of her ears measuring 34 cm (13.38 in)! Now THAT'S long.Surprisingly, veterinary technician Paige Olsen, Lou's owner, says that Lou's very long ears do not require special maintenance.(All Images Credit: Guinness World Records)#WorldRecord #Guinness #Coonhound #Dog #Cute #Amazing
