They say that everything is bigger in Texas. Great Danes are really big dogs. And the biggest of them all is Zeus, who lives in Bedford, Texas. Two-year-old Zeus stands 3 feet, 5.18 inches tall, enough for a Guinness World Record for a living dog. A dog's height is measured from the ground to its withers, or the tallest part of a dog's shoulder blade.
Zeus' owner, Brittany Davis, wanted a Great Dane since she was a little girl. Now she shares her home with her husband, two children, three miniature Australian shepherds, a cat, and Zeus. Zeus gets along great with the other dogs and has agreed to leave the cat alone. The big dog sleeps with Davis' teenage son, who has a queen-size bed.
Of course, you're wondering how they feed such a large dog. Zeus eats 12 cups of dog food everyday, and is tall enough to steal food off the counter when he desires. Guinness tells us the tallest dog ever recorded was also named Zeus, a Michigan dog who was 44 inches tall. That Zeus passed away in 2014. You can read more about Zeus at Guinness World Records.
