Black and tan coonhounds are excellent scent hounds. Thanks to their rather long ears that drag on the ground, the scent in the air is stirred up, which enables coonhounds to pick up on scents other dogs would not be able to.
But perhaps, when it comes to hunting by scent, none would be able to beat 3-year-old Lou. After all, Lou has the longest ears out of all dogs, with each of her ears measuring 34 cm (13.38 in)! Now THAT'S long.
Surprisingly, veterinary technician Paige Olsen, Lou's owner, says that Lou's very long ears do not require special maintenance.
