A year ago, a cat named Boots wandered away from his home in Colorado. Before he could make it back, the area was blanketed with four feet of snow and Boots became lost. As the weeks and months passed, Jules Lieb thought she'd never see her cat again. But it was another disaster that brought Boots home again. The Marshall fire ripped through Boulder County, Colorado, in December of 2021. On January 4, an energy company worker was sifting through the rubble and found a badly burned orange cat hiding in a storm drain. The cat was taken to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, where he was treated and sheltered. When Boots showed signs that he was healing up, the Humane Society posted pictures hoping to find the cat's owner, which were shared by the TV station CBS4. Word of the cat got back to Lieb, who recognized her long-lost Boots.
The Human Society caught the reunion between Lieb and Boots on video. Read Boots' story at CBS4.
