Boaters in California Get Mugged by Two Giant Gray WhalesIt’s the most wonderful season for whale watching, especially for these Californian boaters. The passengers aboard this boat were treated with the most marvelous sight when two giant gray whales appeared nearby and began bobbing, rolling, and flashing their tails. Experts called the behavior “mugging”, although we bet nobody on the tour boat minded being mugged this way.Gray whales are known as the friendly whales. Still, as soon as they were within the vicinity of the boat, the captain powered off the engine so the whales felt comfortable enough to come near. And they did. They floated around the boat for about 45 minutes, greeting its passengers with their antics. As for the timing of the encounter, these whales are migrating north during March. The whales’ long journey extends from their breeding waters in Mexico back home to Alaska, passing California’s coast.#whale #graywhale #WhaleWatching #boat

Curious Whale Swam by to Play With a Woman Riding Her Paddle BoardHow would you feel if you were just inches away from a real-life whale?During migration season, Southern Right Whales swim closer to the shores of the Argentine Patagonia. When this happens, local people and visitors get to enjoy looking at these enormous ocean creatures. But things were different for this particular woman as she had a literally close encounter with such a whale. She was breezing through the sea with her paddle board when she was approached by the friendly giant. The whale was probably intrigued and in a playful mood, as it gently pushed the board and swam around to observe its movement. According to Oscar Comes, a watersports tourism operator in the area, this interaction between the woman and the whale was a rare moment. Whatever the woman felt at the time, this is one experience she will truly never forget.According to the city officials of Puerto Madryn, more than 1,600 specimens of the Southern Right Whale species have been spotted near their shores. Video: Evening Standard#whale #Argentina #ArgentinePatagonia #PuertoMadryn #SouthernRightWhale #watersports
