Aquarium Discovers Penguins Can Be Picky Eaters
Cat owners know the pain of picky eating. Try swapping out a store brand cat food for their Fancy Feast and be ready to feel the wrath of your spoiled pet as he shows his disdain. It turns out that cats aren't the only animals that act this way. To deal with inflated prices, an aquarium in Japan is gradually cutting back on the quality of food for their animals. Some of the residents are having none of it. Hakone-en Aquarium, in the Kanagawa prefecture, switched out 10% of the usual fatty aji, also known as Japanese horse mackerel, for the cheaper saba to feed the penguins, seals, and otters in May. They had planned to use the cheaper fish at 30-40% by July. However, the penguins know the difference, and some have refused to eat the less expensive fish. They aren't shy about showing their displeasure, either! The more discriminating birds aren't going without. For those who refuse to eat the cheaper fish, accommodations have been made so that they get their daily nutrition. Picky eating for the win! -via Fark#penguin #otter #fish #aquarium #diet
Foods Your Cat Shouldn't Eat

Even sushi. Sushi? Well, sashimi to be exact. Raw fish can be harmful to your cat. But what about feral cats, who eat fish all the time? You have to remember that feral cats have short lives, and often no choice as to what they eat. In the wild, it's a roll of the dice, and to an animal, eating is always better than not eating. You can do better by your cat. Lifehacker has a list of foods that are downright dangerous for cats. It's accompanied by a list of foods that are okay for cats, but keep in mind that too much of the same food will fill your cat up, but may deprive him of complete nutrition.
