August 17th is a day set aside to show appreciation for black cats. Black cats have an undeserved bad reputation because 1. they have been labeled as "bad luck" in the past, and 2. because their facial expressions can be hard to see, and they often don't photograph well. ​<a href="https://bestfriends.org/">Best Friends Animal Society</a> is an animal advocacy group that runs shelters in several major cities and also networks with shelters across the country. They are highlighting some of <a href="https://bestfriends.org/stories/features/meet-majestic-minipanthers-national-black-cat-day" alt="their adoptable black cats " class="on">their adoptable black cats </a>(called minipanthers) to celebrate National Black Cat Appreciation Day.
