Couple Adopts One Dog, Gets More Buy one get five was the real deal, apparently!Sydney Victoria only wanted to adopt one dog. It took time for her to convince her boyfriend, but eventually, she was able to bring home the pupper of her dreams. To commemorate the journey she took in getting a pet, she posted a video of it on TikTok. Now, this particular post went viral for two reasons: the adorable story between Victoria and her new companion, and the shocking plot twist that we didn’t see coming. With over 1.2 million views, Internet users were surprised to see the cute and cuddly dog ended up giving birth to five puppies. Thankfully, they ended up keeping all puppies. But we did find it hilarious that the couple did not know that their new dog was pregnant until she gave birth. Victoria ended up wanting only one and ended up giving a home to six new puppies. It’s quite a nice end to a story!Image credit:  TikTok/@accidentalgrandma#puppies #dog #pregnancy #animals #adoption #pets
Adopt a Senior Pet This November! November is National Adopt a Senior Pet Month! If you've been thinking about getting a pet, consider adopting a fully-mature dog or cat. The need is great, because the chances of an older animal getting adopted are much less than those of a puppy or kitten, but there are advantages to to adopters, too. Mature pets are calmer, less destructive, and with a little life experience, often very grateful for a loving home. You know what you're getting into, since older pets have a personality that animal shelter staff will be glad to tell you about. And it will make you feel good.In addition, if you adopt a dog or cat over five years of age between November first and 30th, you could get a reimbursement of up to $200 in adoption fees from Stella & Chewy's pet food company, plus a $40 coupon for pet food. You'll need to fill out an application form and submit adoption cost receipts, and be one of the first 500 people to apply. That would be just the icing on the cake in addition to finding your new best friend. -via Mental Floss (Image credit: Bijonse) #adoption #shelter #seniordog #seniorcat #November
They All Got New Homes But FernThe Bloomfield Animal Shelter in New Jersey held a public cat adoption event on October 16 at the local civic center. It was a smashing success, with 18 out of 21 cats and kittens going to permanent homes. However, there was one cat who was left feeling like the last kid to be picked for a sports team. Fern, a two-year-old cat, was very shy at her first public event, and was returned to the shelter.Fern was the only adult cat not adopted at yesterday’s Adoption Event. This poor girl put on her bravest face at her first event and watched all the others go home. We know she’s a bit more reserved than other young cats her age, but we’d like to think she’s waiting to feel secure and loved in her very own Furever Home before showing her true personality.Poor kitty. But then two days after the word went out, the shelter updated the Facebook post to tell us they are reviewing multiple applications to adopt Fern! Never underestimate the power of social media. -via Fark(Image credit: The Bloomfield Animal Shelter NJ) #cat #shelter #adoption
Mama Tawny Owl Adopts Two Rescue Owl ChicksThere’s nothing more heartwarming in the world than a found family.Luna the tawny owl has had a series of misfortune with her offspring. First, she lost a set of eggs. Then, after waiting for a year for another batch, her eggs failed to hatch. But miracles do happen. Luna’s caretaker, Robert Fuller, came across two rescued chicks in need of a mother. Immediately, Robert knew who to place them with. While Luna was away, Robert placed the baby owls in her nest in hopes that Luna would take them once she was back. Sure enough, in the footage capturing the moment of Luna’s return, the tawny owl immediately took the two babies under her wings (literally) for warmth. It was love at first sight for the mama owl and a new family was born!  #owl #tawnyowl #babyowl #adoption
Luna the Owl Adopts Two Owlets in a HurryBritish wildlife artist Robert E. Fuller rescues owls and tells their stories in his paintings and online. Hissing 'Panda Cat' Goes From Scared To CuddlebugWhen most people go to a shelter to adopt a cat, they select one who is friendly, cuddly, and relatively well-behaved. That's bad for the "problem cats": ferals, strays, sick and injured cats, and those rescued from abusive homes. These cats don't trust humans, and can't compete with other cats. That's where foster humans come in, the generous folks who spend their time socializing problem cats ...just to relinquish them to a permanent home when they've succeeded. Jali Henry is one of those cat foster moms, who bond with cats and then send them on their way to make room for another problem cat. In this video, she patiently deals with Jack until he settles down into a happy house cat. You can follow Jack, now named Dipper, at Instagram.#cat #adoption #feralcat #catfosterparent
