I would be covered with additional scars from my cat if I tried this. I’ll leave the meditative gardening to Sarah Holland-Batt, a writer and literary critic in Australia. Her cat is very relaxed and trusting. She gets into the mood and ambiance of Zen gardening, allowing Holland-Batt to rake her fur like it is sand and apply rocks for the miniature and delicate landscaping that Japanese rock gardens are famous for.
Holland-Batt notes that her pussycat has “big diva energy” and worries that she will now become only more domineering. I don’t think so. As the Buddha said, “Those who are truly wise will remain unmoved by feelings of happiness and suffering, fame and disgrace, praise and blame, gain and loss.” The cat cares not whether she is famous or unknown.
