āRebecca Salinas paints pictures of her everyday life, which almost always involves cats (she has four; here are most of them). Her latest project is a public work in progress, titled The Chorus, featuring portraits of meowing cats from all over. The models are her cats, friends' cats, submitted cats, and famous internet cats, all meowing at once! In the above video, Salinas names all 71 of them, but the painting isn't finished. There will be more cats added. As it stands, there are two Atlases, two Potatoes, and at least two Milos.
Salinas' own cats were the first to be painted for The Chorus.
The cats are introduced with a closeup at Instagram as they are added. Click to the right on each of these closeups to see the original photograph of the cat.
Of course, you recognize the legendary Smudge.
Imagine the noise of all those cats were to really meow together!
Cat number 72 has been added since Salinas made the video. This one is Khaleesi. You'll want to check back at Salinas' Instagram gallery as she adds more cats to The Chorus. She assures us that it will be available as a print when it is eventually finished. That won't happen until the canvas is completely filled! -via Metafilter ā
