Lost Border Collie Takes the Bus Home all by Herself

“She phoned me and said, ‘Your dog is on the number seven bus’.

Pepper, a smart border collie, was separated from her owners while chasing after geese in Fairlands Valley Park in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. Instead of wandering in the streets and wondering how to get home, she walked two and a half miles to a busy town center station — then hopped on the No.7 Arriva bus service.

Passengers were surprised to see a dog sitting for 15 minutes before getting up at her stop and jumping off when the doors opened. Pepper was then reunited with her owners, Charlotte Jones and Saffron Caps.

Caps said that a lady on the bus recognized Pepper and took a picture of the dog.

“She told the driver the dog was going to stay on the bus until she met her owners,” Caps recalled. “Pepper got up near our stop. The doors opened and she jumped off. It’s just amazing.”

Pepper is a former rescue dog who got by the couple two years ago when she was five months old. How smart for a dog to ride a bus home, all by herself!
