Remember Hank the Tank? Well, it seems he’s got accomplices.
The bear made headlines when he was suspected of breaking and entering two dozens of homes in the Southern Lake Tahoe area. The chatters grew when an idea was raised to euthanize him for safety reasons.
Now, thanks to DNA evidence, Hank’s name has been cleared. Based on DNA samples investigated by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, it appears that two other bears were also responsible for the break-ins. Based on this new finding, officials say that they have nixed the plan to euthanize Hank if captured. Instead, the effort will focus on relocating the habituated bears.
