Dog is Honored for Saving More Than 100 Koalas

From September 2019 to March 2020, Australia was ravaged by brush fires. Innumerable wildlife was lost, including tens of thousands of koalas. However, wildlife workers had a specialized tool for helping the koalas. Bear is a 6-year-old dog who is the only dog in Australia specially trained to find koalas by their scent. During the brushfires, he worked relentlessly and found more than 100 koalas that were taken to safety and given medical treatment for burns, dehydration, and smoke inhalation.

For his tireless and important work, the International Fund for Animal Welfare awarded Bear a gold medal! He won a Special Recognition Awards at the 2021 Animal Action Awards. That's a good dog. -via Bored Panda
