(Image credit: <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/Pet_Renaissance/comments/ceirbn/our_cat_trying_to_steal_cheese/" alt="Loptimist" class="on">Loptimist</a>)&nbsp; Depictions of animals in medieval <a href="https://www.neatorama.com/2015/07/30/Top-10-Medieval-Butt-Licking-Cats/">drawings</a> were <a href="https://www.neatorama.com/2022/05/15/A-Daily-Dose-of-Weird-Medieval-Art/">sometimes</a> hilariously <a href="https://www.neatorama.com/2013/06/30/Medieval-Pet-Names/">awful,</a> as <a href="https://www.neatorama.com/2016/11/20/Ugly-Cat-or-Spiteful-Artist/">we've</a> seen <a href="https://www.neatorama.com/2020/03/10/Why-Medieval-Cats-Look-Like-That/">before</a>.&nbsp;Then came the Renaissance, and European art was suddenly beautiful. We saw richly realistic depictions of life, meticulously staged to tell a story in almost poetic form. Today, we can admire a beautiful scene of everyday life and think how it resembles a Renaissance work of art. And since we take endless pictures of our pets, it only stands to reason that a few will end up that nice. And so, in 2019, the subreddit <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/Pet_Renaissance/">Pet Renaissance</a> was born, to share those artful images with the world.

Notice how each cat in the photo below expresses its individual reaction to what's happening.&nbsp;
