Mert Akkök has a private animal shelter at his farm near Istanbul. He takes in stray animals that need extra love and care. That means he has 18 dogs, plus various cats, goats, donkeys, birds, and other livestock. But Reyhan is special. The mare came into Akkök's care when she was still on mother's milk.
