Real Life Lassie: Dog Led Police to Her Injured Owner After a Car CrashTinsley, a female Shiloh shepherd from Lebanon, New Hampshire, miraculously saved her owner and another man after a vehicle accident as she ushered authorities to the crash site.At first, police officers led by Trooper Tom Sandberg of Lebanon Police Department thought that the dog was loose on the highway, so they tried to catch it. When the police got close to her, Tinsley would run away and then stop and look back to try to get them to follow her. Then, she stood on top of an embankment and looked down to show the officers a pickup truck that had crashed. There, they found two men who had been thrown out of the car as it rolled down the embankment. It was then that the police found out that the dog belonged to one of those men. “This was almost like a real-life Lassie situation,” said Lt. Dan Baldassarre of New Hampshire State Police to WPTZ news channel, “It's really quite remarkable. This dog definitely saved their lives. I don't think they would have survived the night given the temperatures.”The police officers called for medical assistance and the crash victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. How fortunate for the crash victims that Tinsley was there. If it weren’t for her heroism, they would not have made it!Image: WPTZ#Lassie #ShilohShepherd #dog #caraccident #hero
Rescued from a Dog Fighting Ring, Hansel the Pit Bull Escaped Euthanasia and Became an Arson Detection K-9It appears that Hercules isn't the only one who transformed into a hero in an instant.Come meet Hansel, ajoyful pit bull with a heart-warming smile. Hansel was rescued at the age of 7 weeks from an alleged Canadian dog fighting ring and was about to be euthanized. Thankfully, he was adopted by a Florida shelter before being taken in by the Philadelphia-based Throw Away Canines Project, which trains dogs to become K-9 officers.Tyler Van Leer, a Millville Fire Department firefighter, is now in charge of Hansel. Van Leer was seeking a department dog that could aid them with fire detection and serve as a community ambassador. When a police officer and Carol Skaziak, the founder of Throw Away Dogs, heard about this, they brought Hansel to the firehouse in September. After meeting, the two became best buds.Since graduating in January 2020, Hansel has conducted over 3000 searches after focusing on smell training at the academy. He is now an arson detection dog, capable of detecting flammable materials such as kerosene and lighter fluid.Images by: Savannah Young and Erik Larson #pitbull #RescueDog #Hansel #PitBull #Rescue #FireFighter #Hero
