Police Dog Decides He'd Rather Play SoccerIt was the final game of the Pernambuco football tournament in Recife, Brazil. The teams Nautico and Retro were battling it our for the championship. Suddenly, a police dog on duty decided he wanted to play with that ball! The dog, named Zumbi, checked out each player to see who had the ball. When he found it, there was no stopping him! Two human police officers tried to catch Zumbi, but it was only when they tempted him with another soccer ball that he allowed them to lead him off the field. Zumbi kept his ball (which was punctured by then anyway), and the crowd cheered. Tiny Dwarf Mongoose Hikes a Toy Egg Like a FootballA dwarf mongoose exhibits a unique behavior while playing with toy eggs at the Oregon Zoo. This species is  native in Angola and in the wild, it is  known to act in this peculiar way  to crack open eggs  by launching it in the air through its legs with its  forepaws, just like a football center player would do when snapping the football back from the line of scrimmage. As you can see in the video clip provided by the Oregon Zoo, while snapping the plastic egg back, the dwarf mongoose is facing away from a rock. If the egg that it throws back were real, it would crack on impact.  In this case, the activity not only provide a good “eggcercise” for the mongoose, it also help provide it with a simulation of what to do to feed in the wild.#mongoose #DwarfMongoose #football #egg #OregonZoo

Falling Cat Steals the Thunder at a College Football GameThe University of Miami played Appalachian State at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Saturday. The game was a postscript to the real drama, though, as a cat fell from the upper deck. The cat clung to the edifice for a while until all cameras were on him (reportedly peeing on the crowd below), giving the fans time to unfurl a flag. When the cat freed its claws and fell, his splat was softened by the improvised net. Let's see that from another angle.
