Nick Castro of Nick’s Extreme Pest Control in Forestville, California is used to extreme situations—hence the name of his business. But a recent job took him aback.
He was called in by the homeowner, who reported that a woodpecker and pecked through the siding of his house and caused damage to the walls. Castro cut open a section of drywall to get to the interior and found that the woodpecker was using the interior space to store nuts—a lot of nuts!
He collected 700 pounds of acorns, which filled 8 garbage bags before he was done.
This is, of course, very amusing--right up until you remember that Castro has robbed a woodpecker of his lifesavings.
