Wild Turkey Joined Army Funeral Procession at Arlington National Cemetery

The funeral procession at Arlington National Cemetery just added one unexpected guest. The surprise guest is a wild turkey that resides in the nearby wilderness. The Washington DC cemetery, where many service members and their families are buried, is surrounded by an area populated by wildlife. Chipmunks, squirrels, foxes and even deer have been spotted out and about before.

This particular female turkey is more daring than most of her animal friends. She would come watch the funeral and sometimes tag along with the servicemen during the procession, as posted by Arlington National Cemetery's Facebook page.

Though it may be a bit startling to spot a wild turkey, visitors to the military cemetery are urged to be mindful to animals that consider ANC's 639 acres their home.
