We know what you're thinking—terrible picture. Right?
You're right. But this was the only picture known of an emu that had gone loose in Virginia. Five days ago on February 16th, the Franklin County Animal Shelter posted this picture on their Facebook page in an effort to find the loose emu's owner.
Reported sightings suggested that the emu had gone loose for at least two weeks, but shelter officials said it could have been longer. Cindy Lamb, manager of the shelter, said that animal control officers were actively searching for the emu. They hoped to locate the emu's owner somewhere from Ferrum College to Crossroads.
