This cat was found in a feral cat colony, but he didn't really belong there, and was shunned by the other cats. He was malnourished, and he had scars from cat fights, saggy jowls, and baggy eyelids that left him partially blind. The person who found him named him Shrek because he looked like an ogre. Emily Shields of Whiskers and Wishes Sanctuary Marana, Arizona, loved Shrek, and moved heaven and earth to get him help. Shrek still looks rather weatherbeaten, but he found a home with a family in New York! He flew across the country in August and has settled into his new home just fine. He's a happy cat, and that's what matters.
But Shrek's story has other repercussions. He gained so many fans on social media that the shelter raised extra money for veterinary care and he got a lot of other cats adopted, too!
