He was taken in by the Pumakawa Animal Reserve in Argentina because he is blind, and a blind wild cat cub has no chance of survival on his own. Kai is like no other cougar, having been raised by humans and trained to trust others to get around. Even as an adult, he cannot be around other mountain lions, but he has friends like his human Estanislao, her dog Majo, and the rescued cougar cubs that comes through the reserve.
