The Toledo Zoo is proud to announce the birth of twin polar bear cubs, born on November 11th. The cubs, weighing around two pounds each, seem to be doing just fine. The genders are not yet known. The cubs are the eighth and ninth for their mother, 24-year-old Crystal. Their father is 18-year-old Nuka, who joined the zoo in March of this year to supplement their breeding program. The cubs are sequestered with their mother in a private den and will not be shown to zoo visitors until spring, but we are keeping an eye on them anyway.
