The Two-legged Dog in Puppy Bowl XIX's Starting Lineup

The 19th annual Puppy Bowl will air this Sunday at 2PM on several channels and streaming services. It will feature 122 rescue puppies from 67 shelters. One puppy that may stand out in the crowd is Joey, who is no longer available for adoption but represents many special needs puppies who are.

Joey was born last summer without front legs. When the rest of his litter was adopted, Joey went to the Humane Society, who referred Joey to Vintage Pet Rescue, an organization that specializes in helping older dogs and special needs dogs. Rhode Island resident Cathy Larson already had a blind dog and another with three legs, so when she saw Joey on Facebook, she decided to take him in. Joey has flourished in his new home.

Joey has a harness with wheels, but he prefers to just hop on his back legs. He needs help with some daily functions, but knows how to call for help. Joey plays with his his new family and dog siblings just fine. Read about the puppy who went from early rejection to the Puppy Bowl at Daily Paws.
