A Clydesdale horse is a large, impressive, and powerful breed, originating in Scotland where they pulled wagonloads of goods across the country. Today you associate them with Budweiser beer, usually a team of eight noble horses pulling a beer wagon. That's because they've been doing it for publicity for almost 90 years!
It all started when the CEO of the brewing company Anheuser-Busch, August A. Busch Sr., was gifted a team of Clydesdales along with a beer wagon from his sons to celebrate the end of Prohibition in 1933. Since then, the horses have hauled old fashioned wagons for Anheuser-Busch's premier product, Budweiser, all over the country. The company began breeding their own Clydesdales in the 1950s, but not every horse can make the cut. Only the most magnificent appear in Bud's Christmas and Super Bowl ads.
