Support Group Established to Help Grieving Pet Owners

Have you ever lost a pet? You probably know how it hurts so much — the grief and loneliness can be overwhelming.

A new support group was formed for pet owners to help those who lost their beloved animals. The group is a collaboration between Nashville Humane Association and Nashville-based pet aftercare company, Paws to Remember. The group will have a meeting twice a month at Nashville Humane Association and the first session happened on March 20, 2022 — the topic was about why losing a pet is heartbreaking.

The grief support program was established to provide support, community, and resources needed by pets and their owners during difficult times. In case you want to sign up, information can be found here.

Laura Baker, the Executive Director of Nashville Humane Association, said that one of their outreach’s important purposes is to help owners through all the stages of an animal’s life cycle — including their death.
