Spy in the Wild is a BBC One natural history series that uses animatronic ‘spy creatures’ to go undercover in the wild to capture raw footage of unique animal behavior. The special cameras were developed by filmmaker John Downer’s team at John Downer Productions. In this particular video, a robot ‘spy hippo’ can be seen carefully approaching a group of hippos lounging in a body of water in Africa.
Interestingly, the animatronic look-alike is able to fool its real-life counterpart, and capture the stunning videos of the animals in their natural habitat.
