A while back, we noted on this blog that a particular dog in Portugal had secured a Guinness World Record for being the oldest dog. We regret to inform you that Bobi has gone on to his reward at the age of 31 years and 163 to 165 days.
His human, Leonel Costa, was just eight years old when he rescued the puppy from being euthanized and raised him. BBC News reports that Bobi, a purebred Rafeiro de Alentejo, spent his entire life in the village of Conqueiros, Portugal. He ate ordinary human food and lived in tranquility in the countryside, which may have contributed to his longevity.
