Rescue dogs tend to have a lot of trauma and sadness in themselves. These animals experience probably the most heartbreaking conditions, from abuse to abandonment. We admit that if we place ourselves in their situations, who wouldn’t come out with a lot of trauma and coping mechanisms, right?
Well, dogs remember. And dogs know how to brace themselves for the heartbreak. For this one pupper though, it doesn’t. You can see the moment when she realizes that these new people will be with her in the long run.
TikTok user @jessdavisaust shared her journey in adopting Kuma, a shy and timid rescue dog that has already been through five different homes. According to Kuma’s new (and permanent) paw parent, it took them quite a long time for the animal to finally realize that she was at her forever home. But they managed to catch a video of the pupper realizing her new and happier state, and her walls dropped, ready to trust. “The transition for a rescue pet in their new home will take time. So please don't give up if it seems like they don't want to be there.” The user wrote in their caption.
