Alvin Patterson Kaunda, a reporter for Kenyan Broadcasting Corporation, was recently attempting to deliver a serious story about the welfare of orphaned baby elephants at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Nairobi in the midst of a serious drought. A few baby elephants served as his backdrop, which was an effective visual.
But the elephants wanted to play. One nuzzled close to him while his companion reached over Kaunda’s head with his trunk to explore the human’s face.
Kaunda tells Kenyans.co.ke that he has a passion for wildlife and didn’t feel afraid at all. He said that, “I knew there was no reason to panic because they were baby elephants.”
