Meet the Vacuum Cleaner Defense League

An organization called the Vacuum Cleaner Defense League sounds like a group who is defending vacuum cleaners (against what?) but that's not it. This organization hates vacuum cleaners and wish to defend against them. They didn't do much of job naming their group because they are dogs, and have little English education. But they are dogs who hate vacuum cleaners with a vengeance. Maybe you know a dog like that.

Check out the page with pictures and testimonials from the members. They hate vacuum cleaners, but some of them mention other enemies, such as lawn mowers, weed eaters, hair dryers, garbage collectors, and ceiling fans. The overwhelming majority are dogs, but cats are welcome, too, and one skunk managed to join.

According to the site's blog, the Vacuum Cleaner Defense League grew out of a 2016 political campaign in which a German shepherd named Thor Michaelson ran for office on an anti-vacuum cleaner platform. You can still get yard signs from his campaign. The League's website was launched and is maintained by Thor's human, novelist Tiffany Pitts.  -via Metafilter ā€‹
