Bassett hounds sleep a lot, between 13 and 22 hours a day, depending on their age. So how do you wake one up? A golden retriever will wake up at the slightest sound of anything that could be associated with food. A husky will wake up the moment someone sets foot on the porch. But it takes something special to wake a Bassett. Basset Hound Nanny has plenty of hounds, and they will wake for only one sound. A small, barely perceptible sound.
Some people thought this was staged somehow, so we got a second experiment.
A third video even includes a bag of dog treats, but the results are the same. Or even better!
This is definite proof that dogs hear just fine in their sleep, much better than humans do. But they are also very good at ignoring those sounds unless it is in their best interests. After all, they have a lot of napping to do! It is also proof that Bassett hounds are adorable. -via Parade Pets ā
