Phantom is a playful and friendly horse. Teton is a 30-year-old neglected horse. They met at Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue in Mount Airy, Maryland, when Teton came there to be healed and given the life a horse deserves. But Teton was skittish and scared and didn't really know how to relax. Phantom could tell right off he needed help, and took on the job of teaching Teton how to be a horse.
Phantom's friendship paid off, and Teton is now a strong and vibrant mountain of animal flesh. With stories like this, you can see that empathy and altruism does exist in the animal kingdom beyond humans. Now if only humans were all this considerate and willing to give of themselves.
