Holstein Calf Saved By a Happy Face

On dairy farms, excess male calves are usually sold off for meat. But one of the 700 calves born this year at BellBrook Holsteins in West Gippsland, Victoria, Australia, will instead become a pet.

Farmer Barry Coster didn't notice anything unusual about the calf at first, but when the new baby turned around, he couldn't help but smile and send a picture to his wife Megan. She at first thought it was a Photoshop job. They have since named the calf Happy, which is pretty appropriate for a calf with a happy face on his side. The calf is unlikely to be a stud bull, but will live out his days among the other bulls as a "lawnmower for life." -via reddit
