Could This Be the World's Smallest Pony?

Pumuckel is a Shetland pony in Breckerfeld, Germany, who is tiny even compared to other Shetland ponies. In fact, at 50 centimeters tall (about 20 inches) with a weight of 35 kilograms (77 pounds), he is about half the size of the average Shetland pony. As small as he is, Pumuckel leads a busy life as a therapy animal who visits kindergartens and retirement homes to spread joy among the young and the old.

Pumuckel's owner Carola Weidemann would like to enter Pumuckel into the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's smallest pony. After all, he is two inches shorter than the current record holder. But the Guinness folks told her that a pony must be four years old to seek the title. Pumuckel, although fully grown, is only three. He'll get his chance next year. But he's not complaining. In fact, he's not saying anything at all, because he's a little horse. You can see plenty of cute pictures of Pumuckel at work and at play at USA Today. -via Farkā€‹
