Big Rescue Effort for a Very Tiny Bird

A finch is already a very tiny bird, that lays very tiny eggs. If everything goes well, they hatch into tiny little chicks. But things went a tiny bit sideways with this one.

Alwyn Wils became a bird rescue expert after his experience with Albert a few years ago. He took in a zebra finch who laid an egg on the way home. Finches won't accept an egg that was not laid in the nest. Could he save the hatchling, too? The new finch resembled a fragile undercooked alien being, and the challenge is keeping it warm and fed without a mother. Watch human hands do what Mother Nature couldn't for the tiniest bird you've ever seen. The last minute of this video makes it worth your time sitting on the edge of your seat during the first minutes. Way to go, Wils!  -via Kottke ā€‹
