UPI reports that a woman in Greenville County, South Carolina, which is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, had an unexpected encounter with a bear one night. Wendy Watson says that the bear is a regular in her neighborhood. Perhaps that’s why he displayed the courtesy to ring her doorbell.
The bear walked up the porch steps and pressed the doorbell, as captured on the camera mounted on it. He left a noseprint on the adjacent window. Then the bear destroyed two bird feeders, ate the birdseed inside, and ambled off.
I know that bears and humans have different sleep habits, but perhaps the bear should keep in mind the hour of the day when he pays an unexpected visit to a neighbor.
