A New Flavor of Cat Has Been Discovered

BBC Science Focus is using the term “color”, but licorice is a flavor (the best flavor among all candies), so I’ll go with that word.

Still, the Finnish researchers responsible for this scientific breakthrough determined that this cat’s furry coloration resembles that of salted licorice, which, in Finnish, is called “salmiak.” Most cats’ fur comes in either orange or black and what appear to be different colors are just variations of these two colors. Salmiak cats have an unusual recessive gene that results in this salty black coloration in a typically “tuxedo” pattern.
